Introduction to the Kapitan Khlebnikov

The Kapitan Khlebnikov combines power and technology with comfort and has 52 en-suite cabins and a maximum of 102 guests. This polar class icebreaker was originally designed for the ice-choked waters of norther Siberia. Its 24,000 horsepower engine and advanced ice-breaking technology allows access to places in the Russian Far East that no other ship can. She has a fleet of Zodiacs to take passengers on excursions.

She carries just 102 passengers and was refurbished in March 2013 to provide comfortable accommodation in twin share cabins all have private facilities. All cabins have outside windows or portholes and ample storage space. On board there is a combined bar/library lounge area and a dedicated lecture room. The cuisine is very good and is prepared by top NZ and Australian chefs.

The real focus and emphasis of every expedition is getting you into zodiacs, or ashore as often as possible for as long as possible with maximum safety and comfort. Our Expeditions are accompanied by some of the most experienced naturalists and guides, who have devoted a lifetime to field research in the areas that we visit. The ship is crewed by a very enthusiastic and experienced Russian Captain and crew.

Kapitan Khlebnikov Cabins

Located on deck 6 and 7 these suites are spacious and enjoy corner views out of the front of the ship. The suites have en-suite facilities. Corner suite comes with one small double bed, one sofa bed, separate suite sitting room, 2 opening windows, 2 desks/chairs, table, refrigerator, TV/DVD player and CD player.

Located on deck 6 and 7 the Suites have en-suite facilities and views out the front of the ship. Suite comes with one small double bed, multi-TV/DVD player, refrigerator, 2 windows, separate living room with table, writing desk and chair, open wardrobe, shelf and sofa bed.

Located on deck 5, 6, 7 and 8 Twin Cabins have views of the side of the ship. All the cabins have en-suite facilities. The twin cabins come with one lower berth and one sofa bed. All twin cabins feature a large opening window, writing desk and chair as well as a wardrobe and storage shelves for your personal belongings.
Average cabin size is 4.7m x 2.7m.

One bunk (one upper and one lower berth) and one additional lower berth, writing desk, wardrobe and drawers. Private bathroom with shower, toilet and washbasin. A large window offers great views.
