Hanseatic Inspiration
The Hanseactic Inspiration raises the bar in the expedition cruise segment and features numerous structural elements that enhance the expedition experience even more. Retractable glass balconies on the sun deck give you the feeling of hovering directly above the water and you can stand on the circuit on the bow of the ship to be closer to the action – even closer than the captain.
The new ship can accommodate 199 guests on Antarctica and Arctic cruises (230 for other voyages) with exclusively outside cabins, almost all of which have their own balcony or french balcony. There are 3 first class restaurants on board as well as a spa, fitness centre, pool and multiple bars and lounges to help you relax and unwind after a busy day of exploring all Antarctica has to offer.
Kangerlussuaq is a settlement in western Greenland in the Qeqqata municipality located at the head of the fjord of the same name (Danish: Søndre Strømfjord). It is Greenland’s main air transport hub and the site of Greenland’s largest commercial airport. The airport dates from American settlement during and after World War II, when the site was known as Bluie West-8 and Sondrestrom Air Base. The Kangerlussuaq area is also home to Greenland’s most diverse terrestrial fauna, including muskoxen, caribou, and gyrfalcons. The settlement’s economy and population of 512 is almost entirely reliant on the airport and tourist industry. Board the Hanseatic Inspiration
Sisimiut has been inhabited for the last 4,500 years, first by the Inuit people of the Saqqaq culture, Dorset culture, and then the Thule people, whose descendants form the majority of the current population. Sisimiut is the largest business centre north of the national capital of Nuuk and is one of the fastest growing cities in Greenland. Walk the streets of this colourful town or take a hike to Tele Island and marvel at the picturesque old town.
Passing through the Vaigat Strait, you will head for Ilulissat, closing in on another highlight of your expedition: even well-travelled visitors are left speechless by the imposing ice fjord. Experience gigantic ice formations in the famous Disko Bay: massive blocks of ice which have broken off the glacier drift in the sea – one of the most impressive spectacles in Greenland. A magical world of blue and white for you to discover in the Zodiacs, depending on the ice.
During your days at sea, make the most of the many services and activities on board. Treat yourself to a moment of relaxation in the spa or stay in shape in the fitness centre. Depending on the season, let yourself be tempted by the swimming pool or a spot of sunbathing. If you want to expand your expedition knowledge immerse yourself in learning more by listening to one of the experts presentations or do some of your own research in the Ocean Academy.
Cast your gaze over the vast tundra in the Arsukfjord – with luck, musk oxen will grace the fantastic backdrop. Prins Christian Sund glistens in beautiful turquoise: enjoy extraordinary and unique views of waterfalls and glaciers.
The route the ship takes up the east coast of Greenland depends on the weather conditions and the ice so there will be some flexibility as to where your voyage will take you however your expert team will work with the conditions to find the best route up the coast, still making sure you have an unforgettable experience.
Places that you are likely to visit include Skjoldungen Sound, Ittoqqortoormiit, Scoresbysund and the Northeast Greenland National Park. Expect a lot of time exploring the world’s largest fjord system where world of superlatives await you: Greenland’s highest mountains, impressive glacier landscapes and icebergs glittering like sapphires shape the region. Awe-inspiring rock faces rise up steeply before you, forming a rugged backdrop to fascinating white ice sculptures reflected in the water. Against this backdrop, you will have lots of opportunities to enjoy walks through the autumnal tundra – and with a little luck, you just might spot some musk oxen.

A road over Fjarðarheiði mountain pass is the only accessible way Seyðisfjörður is connected to the rest of Iceland. The town of Seyðisfjörður is well known for its old wooden buildings and has remnants of urban street configurations within its urban fabric. It also has a vibrant cultural scene with an arts centre, the Technical Museum of East Iceland and the only two cinemas in the east of Iceland. There are several waterfalls in and around the town and plenty of beautiful hikes that can be done from town.

Attractions such as the wellpreserved 5000-year-old village site at Skara Brae and the ancient Ring of Brodgar within the UNESCO World Heritage Site “Heart of Neolithic Orkney” showcase the world-class cultural heritage of the island.
