Hanseatic Inspiration
The Hanseactic Inspiration raises the bar in the expedition cruise segment and features numerous structural elements that enhance the expedition experience even more. Retractable glass balconies on the sun deck give you the feeling of hovering directly above the water and you can stand on the circuit on the bow of the ship to be closer to the action – even closer than the captain.
The new ship can accommodate 199 guests on Antarctica and Arctic cruises (230 for other voyages) with exclusively outside cabins, almost all of which have their own balcony or french balcony. There are 3 first class restaurants on board as well as a spa, fitness centre, pool and multiple bars and lounges to help you relax and unwind after a busy day of exploring all Antarctica has to offer.
Kangerlussuaq is a settlement in western Greenland in the Qeqqata municipality located at the head of the fjord of the same name (Danish: Søndre Strømfjord). It is Greenland’s main air transport hub and the site of Greenland’s largest commercial airport. The airport dates from American settlement during and after World War II, when the site was known as Bluie West-8 and Sondrestrom Air Base. The Kangerlussuaq area is also home to Greenland’s most diverse terrestrial fauna, including muskoxen, caribou, and gyrfalcons. The settlement’s economy and population of 512 is almost entirely reliant on the airport and tourist industry. Board the Hanseatic Inspiration
During your days at sea, make the most of the many services and activities on board. Treat yourself to a moment of relaxation in the spa or stay in shape in the fitness centre. Depending on the season, let yourself be tempted by the swimming pool or a spot of sunbathing. If you want to expand your expedition knowledge immerse yourself in learning more by listening to one of the experts presentations or do some of your own research in the Ocean Academy.
Explore the colourful town of Uummannaq. It has a “heart” for explorers: this settlement was named for the heart-shaped mountain that towers above it and radiates different shades of red as the sun moves through the day.

Experience Inuit culture and history in Pond Inlet on Baffin Island. Awaiting you is a warm welcome from the inhabitants of this traditional settlement surrounded by snow-covered mountain ranges on Eclipse Sound. Robust Zodiacs are the only way to explore this region.
Devon Island is the world’s largest uninhabited island. Gleaming blue ice is reflected in the crystal-clear water, and with luck you will spot some mighty musk oxen and cute lemmings.
The Arctic Cordillera mountain system covers much of Ellesmere Island, making it the most mountainous in the Arctic Archipelago. More than one-fifth of the island is protected as Quttinirpaaq National Park (formerly Ellesmere Island National Park Reserve), which includes seven fjords and a variety of glaciers, as well as Lake Hazen, North America’s largest lake north of the Arctic Circle.
In the clear polar air, cruising through Jones Sound presents unique Arctic panoramas.
Enjoy your day relaxing on the ship and take in the stunning panoramic views of the Canadian Arctic while the ship cruises through the Smith Sound.
A reverent silence hangs in the air, broken only by an isolated crack of glacier ice or the call of a kittiwake. Your expedition ship reaches red-rocked Pim Island, which is highly popular with polar bears and Arctic foxes. From here on in, the ice determines the course. Following the call of the north, the Hanseatic inspiration cruises through the icy waters of the Nares Strait.
The next four day will be spent exploring Greenland’s North-west Coast. The Ice and weather will decide the route but you will visit places like Cape Constitution, where Elisha Kane proudly raised the American flag in 1854 and Siorapaluk, Greenland’s most northerly settlement, a remote place on the strait of Smith Sound where the approximately 80 inhabitants earn their living from hunting and fishing.
Further south, you will visit the young settlement of Qaanaaq. The colourful houses here form a beautiful chessboard pattern. Next you will visit Cape York, where you will board Zodiacs to explore the icy landscape.

Passing through the Vaigat Strait, you will head for Ilulissat, closing in on another highlight of your expedition: even well-travelled visitors are left speechless by the imposing ice fjord. Experience gigantic ice formations in the famous Disko Bay: massive blocks of ice which have broken off the glacier drift in the sea – one of the most impressive spectacles in Greenland. A magical world of blue and white for you to discover in the Zodiacs, depending on the ice.
Sisimiut has been inhabited for the last 4,500 years, first by the Inuit people of the Saqqaq culture, Dorset culture, and then the Thule people, whose descendants form the majority of the current population. Sisimiut is the largest business centre north of the national capital of Nuuk and is one of the fastest growing cities in Greenland. Walk the streets of this colourful town or take a hike to Tele Island and marvel at the picturesque old town.
After breakfast disembark the Hanseatic Inspiration for your onward journey.
