Ultramarine

EXPEDITION-LUXURY (199)

Introduction to the Ultramarine

The newest ship in the Quark fleet, Ultramarine is designed to go beyond the familiar in polar exploration, to discover new places, and immerse you in the best the region has to offer. Ultramarine accommodates 199 guests and is equipped with two twin-engine helicopters to offer the most robust portfolio of adventure activities in the industry, the most spacious suites in its category, breathtaking public spaces, and more outdoor wildlife viewing spaces than other expedition ships its size.

With two dining areas, four bars, a panoramic lounge, theatre, library, spa and fitness centre, Polar boutique and an ocean view sauna your days at sea can be as busy or relaxing as you decide.

ULTRAMARINE OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES

Kayaking

Kayaking (AUD$2,850 per person)

Immerse yourself in the incredible scenery of the Arctic onboard a sea kayak. Approach incredible ice formations and get up close to wildlife and beautiful scenery, only accessible to kayaks.

Paddling Arctic World Explorer

Paddling (AUD$460)

If you’re interested in kayaking but would like to try something a bit less demanding than Sea Kayaking, you’re the perfect candidate to sign up for a one-time paddle on the stable sit-on-top kayaks—perfect for anyone with minimal or no kayaking experience.

Quark Flightseeing

Flight Seeing (Included*)

While polar landscapes are spectacular from the sea, they’re even more stunning from the air, a view you can enjoy while seated in one of the two twin-engine helicopters stationed on Ultramarine. Typically in groups of 7 to 9, you will experience an unforgettable aerial tour of the Arctic during a 10 to 15 minute flightseeing excursion that’s included in the cost of the voyage.
Please note: all helicopter operations are weather and logistics dependent.

Helicopter - Quark

Heli-Landing (Included*)

You will be transferred from Ultramarine’s heli-decks via the two twin-engine helicopters to a pre-selected Arctic destination. You’ll have time to explore the location, accompanied by expeditions team members, after which you’ll be picked up by the helicopters in the same location and returned to Ultramarine.
Note: heli-landings are dependent on weather conditions and logistics.

Quark - Heli-Hiking

Heli-Hiking (Included*)

Twin-engine helicopters will transfer you to the start of the most scenic hiking routes of Southern Greenland and then pick you up at the end point of the route. Each heli-hiking departure will be tailored to your personal needs and level of interests. You may choose to join one of the fast walking groups who will go for exploration and distance, or one of the medium hiking routes where there will be plenty of time to stop for photography and reflection, or explore at a slower pace with ample time to enjoy the scenery and immerse yourself in your surroundings.
Note: helicopter excursions are dependent on weather conditions and logistics.

Icy Scenery

Ice-Sheet Experience (Included*)

Ascend high above the cascading coastal glaciers onto the immense polar plateau of the Greenland Ice Sheet (the second largest ice mass in the world) and take in the immensity of this overwhelming landscape. An excursion on one of Ultramarine’s two twin-engine helicopters means you’ll have a view of the Ice Sheet that very few other humans have ever experienced. You’ll learn about the dynamics of this environment from our team of glaciologists while you explore this vast, seldom-visited body of ice.
Note: helicopter excursions are dependent on weather conditions and logistics.
