SHIP OFFERING THIS ITINERARY

Hanseatic Inspiration

Hanseatic Inspiration External View

The Hanseactic Inspiration raises the bar in the expedition cruise segment and features numerous structural elements that enhance the expedition experience even more. Retractable glass balconies on the sun deck give you the feeling of hovering directly above the water and you can stand on the circuit on the bow of the ship to be closer to the action – even closer than the captain.
The new ship can accommodate 199 guests on Antarctica and Arctic cruises (230 for other voyages) with exclusively outside cabins, almost all of which have their own balcony or french balcony. There are 3 first class restaurants on board as well as a spa, fitness centre, pool and multiple bars and lounges to help you relax and unwind after a busy day of exploring all Antarctica has to offer.

Day 1 Goose Bay, Canada

Newfoundland

Built on the sandy plateau of the grand river, Goose Bay is home to largest military airbase in Northeast America. Wolverine Bay offers warm, fresh water for those who like to swim, there is also plenty of hiking trails or you can go pick some wild blueberries. Board the Hanseatic Inspiration.

Day 2 At Sea

Hanseatic Inspiration Ocean Spa

During your days at sea, make the most of the many services and activities on board. Treat yourself to a moment of relaxation in the spa or stay in shape in the fitness centre. If you want to expand your expedition knowledge immerse yourself in learning more by listening to one of the experts presentations or do some of your own research in the Ocean Academy.

Days 3-5 Labrador Coast

Torngat Mountains National Park

In a region difficult to reach by land, the sea will take you to the heart of this remote wilderness. Watch as northern Labrador’s magnificent mountains rise up before you, and feel your pioneering spirit soar. Striking peaks, deep fjords, rugged coastlines: Torngat Mountains National Park paints a picture of the Ice Age, its traces found in moraines and scree fields. Enjoy flexible expedition days with Zodiac rides and hikes in the habitat of Arctic foxes and black bears. The Button Islands are also new terrain for the ship. Depending on the conditions, explore the seldom-visited home of seabirds and whales from a Zodiac or from ashore.

Days 6 & 7 Hudson Strait

iceberg

If weather and ice permit, you will spend the next two days exploring the famous Hudson Strait. The strait boasts a climate and landscape that encompasses all the elements: ice, fog, sunshine, vast mountain foothills and deep-blue water.

Day 8 Monumental Island

©EBell_Walrus

A region where musk oxen and reindeer outnumber people. A region that the ship will take time to explore. The feeling of isolation is emphasised on Monumental Island where – with a little luck – you will spot some walruses. These natural beauties on the edge of the Arctic will set the tone for a world even further north.

Day 9 At Sea

Day 10 Fjords of Greenland

Greenland Fjords

The fjords of Greenland will open up a millennia-old book on the history of the earth’s creative power. Taking a flexible route through this monumental natural wonder, the ship emphasises the vivid expeditionary nature of this cruise. Majestic mountain ranges alternate with deeply carved coastlines.

Day 11 Qeqertarsuaq

Greenland Town

Qeqertarsuaq presents a stunning contrast to the dark mountain backdrop with small, colourful houses by the water.  The whales used to attract hunters; today, the gentle giants of the sea attract looks of amazement when they spout water close to the ship. Enter the town through the whalebone gateway to explore Godhavn – the “good harbour”, walk through the Arctic tundra to the Windy Valley or past hot springs to the rugged basalt coast.

Day 12 Ilulissat

Illulissat-Greenland---

Gaze in awe as the breathtaking foot of the Eqip Sermia Glacier stretches out 7 km before you, along with Ilulissat’s vast panorama along the ice fjord. Soak in the wonders of nature and knowledge on a hike with your experts. Named a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the ice fjord is also the setting for what is possibly Greenland’s most intoxicating nature spectacle.

Day 13 Disko Bay

Disko Bay

Disko Bay will provide unforgettable memories. Ice sculptures in all manner of forms drift slowly through the vast area. Enjoy this natural spectacle from your front-row seat on deck – or take a Zodiac ride to the centre of the action. Illuminated by the sunlight, the ice gleams in a fascinating play of colours from white to azure blue.

Day 14 Sisimiut

Sisimiut

Sisimiut has been inhabited for the last 4,500 years, first by the Inuit people of the Saqqaq culture, Dorset culture, and then the Thule people, whose descendants form the majority of the current population.  Sisimiut is the largest business centre north of the national capital of Nuuk and is one of the fastest growing cities in Greenland. Walk the streets of this colourful town or take a hike to Tele Island and marvel at the picturesque old town.

Day 15 Kangerlussuaq, Greenland

kangerlussuaq resized

Kangerlussuaq is a settlement in western Greenland in the Qeqqata municipality located at the head of the fjord of the same name (Danish: Søndre Strømfjord). It is Greenland’s main air transport hub and the site of Greenland’s largest commercial airport. The airport dates from American settlement during and after World War II, when the site was known as Bluie West-8 and Sondrestrom Air Base. The Kangerlussuaq area is also home to Greenland’s most diverse terrestrial fauna, including muskoxen, caribou, and gyrfalcons. The settlement’s economy and population of 512 is almost entirely reliant on the airport and tourist industry. Disembark the Hanseatic Inspiration.
