Hanseatic Inspiration
The Hanseactic Inspiration raises the bar in the expedition cruise segment and features numerous structural elements that enhance the expedition experience even more. Retractable glass balconies on the sun deck give you the feeling of hovering directly above the water and you can stand on the circuit on the bow of the ship to be closer to the action – even closer than the captain.
The new ship can accommodate 199 guests on Antarctica and Arctic cruises (230 for other voyages) with exclusively outside cabins, almost all of which have their own balcony or french balcony. There are 3 first class restaurants on board as well as a spa, fitness centre, pool and multiple bars and lounges to help you relax and unwind after a busy day of exploring all Antarctica has to offer.
Arrive in Reykjavík, Iceland. The capital of Iceland’s land of ice, fire and natural wonder, Reykjavik is a city like no other – blossoming among some of the world’s most vibrant scenery. Fresh licks of paint brighten the streets, and an artistic and creative atmosphere embraces studios and galleries – as well as the kitchens where an exciting culinary scene is burgeoning. Whether you want to sizzle away in the earth-heated geothermal pools, or hike to your heart’s content, you can do it all from Reykjavik – the colourful capital of this astonishing outdoor country. Board the Hanseatic Inspiration.
Take a look round the small picturesque fishing village of Grubdarfjordhur or set off to explore the dramatic landscape at the Snaefellsnes peninsula.
During your days at sea, make the most of the many services and activities on board. Treat yourself to a moment of relaxation in the spa or stay in shape in the fitness centre. Depending on the season, let yourself be tempted by the swimming pool or a spot of sunbathing. If you want to expand your expedition knowledge immerse yourself in learning more by listening to one of the experts presentations or do some of your own research in the Ocean Academy.
Feel the pioneering spirit as your small expedition ship forges its path through Prince Christian Sound. This ice-covered waterway is filled with spectacular mountains and mighty glaciers. Perhaps you’ll catch your first glimpse of a whale.
Qaqortoq will take you back in time with many magical old houses from the period around 1775 when the town was founded. A small museum provides fascinating information about the Viking legacy and the Inuit culture.
Surrounded by green meadows and snow-covered mountains, the small village of Igaliko played an important historical role: in the twelfth century, this was the seat of a bishop with an unusually large cathedral for the time. Today, the ruins are a fascinating relic from the Norse era.
Timeless beauty awaits you in Arsukfjord. Go on a hike with your experts and cast your gaze over blooming tundra and picturesque glacier panoramas.
Nuuk, meaning “the cape”, was Greenland’s first town (1728). Started as a fort and later mission and trading post some 240 kilometers south of the Arctic Circle, it is the current capital. Almost 30% of Greenland’s population lives in the town. Not only does Nuuk have great natural beauty in its vicinity, but there are Inuit ruins, Hans Egede’s home, the parliament, and the Church of our Saviour as well. The Greenlandic National Museum has an outstanding collection of Greenlandic traditional dresses, as well as the famous Qilakitsoq mummies. The Katuaq Cultural Center’s building was inspired by the undulating Northern Lights and can house 10% of Nuuk’s inhabitants.
Almost 100 km long, Evigedsfjord is like an open-air stage with steep cliff walls rising up around it. The Zodiacs will take you ashore for hikes through the vast, untouched landscape.
Qeqertarsuaq presents a stunning contrast to the dark mountain backdrop with small, colourful houses by the water. The whales used to attract hunters; today, the gentle giants of the sea attract looks of amazement when they spout water close to the ship. Enter the town through the whalebone gateway to explore Godhavn – the “good harbour”, or wander through the Arctic tundra to the Windy Valley.
Explore the colourful town of Uummannaq. It has a “heart” for explorers: this settlement was named for the heart-shaped mountain that towers above it and radiates different shades of red as the sun moves through the day.
In the glow of the perpetual dusk, the desert isle of Storoen seems like a lunar landscape – a geological treasure of the far north bathed in unique plays of colour from ochre to red.
Gaze in awe as the breathtaking foot of the Eqip Sermia Glacier stretches out 7 km before you, along with Ilulissat’s vast panorama along the ice fjord. Soak in the wonders of nature and knowledge on a hike with your experts. Named a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the ice fjord is also the setting for what is possibly Greenland’s most intoxicating nature spectacle.
Disko Bay will provide even more memorable moments. Ice sculptures in all manner of forms drift slowly through the vast area. Enjoy this natural spectacle from your front-row seat on deck – or take a Zodiac ride to the centre of the action. Illuminated by the sunlight, the ice gleams in a fascinating play of colours from white to azure blue.
During your days at sea, make the most of the many services and activities on board. Treat yourself to a moment of relaxation in the spa or stay in shape in the fitness centre. Depending on the season, let yourself be tempted by the swimming pool or a spot of sunbathing.
